My kitten turns into a wild animal if I have REAL food around?

He smells it, and he just has to DEVOUR it if he can get into it. This is a real challege. Will he grow out of this? He really turns into a wildcat, first he smells it cooking and goes nuts, then when I actually try to eat, he goes insane trying to get at the food. I've heard of dogs begging, but this is nuts?
