What to do with my 1930's home?

My husband and I are buying our first home which was built back in the 1930's. Everything in it is original from the kitchen sink to the linoleum on the floor. My question though is If the paint in the home turns out to be original and having lead in it how do I handle that? Also does anyone have any suggestions on how to decorate my home playing off of the 1930's. I love the 30's and 40's and would love to see it come alive in my home.
